Emmanuel/God-with-Us

I was recently sitting in on a meeting (a productive one, by the way, not one of those religious/bureaucratic ones…) and a friend said something that will stick with me. (I hope, for awhile.)

God does not promise safety….God promises He’ll be with us!

God is moving, people! God is moving people.

Our God is moving!

And that’s just it. It’s God. It’s all God. It’s not us. It’s not you or ACE or your church. God is moving, and I’m so excited to be a part of it, watching it unfold in the lives of those we interact with, our kids and families and volunteers.

Thanks!

Speaking on behalf of myself, and taking liberty to speak for the rest of the team, we’re exhausted, but we’re safe and sound back in Minnesota (and Wisconsin!). A week of 5-ish hours of nightly sleep, 100+ degrees of hot Juarez sun, constant shoulder-rides, mountain climbs and running around……it takes it toll. (Still catching up and will be for a few more days!)

Thanks for all the prayers, we indeed felt them! As the Spirit leads, continue to pray for our team as we’re wanting to be challenged in how we live NOW, back in the daily routine of things. We do not want this to be simply one week under

Send-Off

In 2012, the Emmanuel Children’s Home celebrates 50 Years of ministry sharing the love of Christ to thousands of kids from Juarez. I’ve only been a part of this place for two years, but am continually amazed at what God’s done here. Absolutely incredible!

As you can imagine, any organization or ministry endures hardships over the course of fifty years. Difficult decisions have to be made. Change happens.

The Home is undergoing one of these challenging transitions whereby difficult decisions have been made. Change is happening…..and it’s happening in two days on Saturday….

Saturday will be the last day for t

Water & Walmart….

The team came the closest it’s ever come to peril today. (Before I go any further, I want you to know that we’re all OK!)

Apparently Walmart’s in Juarez charge their customers to park in their lot. (Great business idea, by the way…) Consequently, they have little pay “houses” with the little arm-thingy that goes up after you pay and closes upon leaving. And, apparently, the little arm-thingy automatically goes down after one car passes through. Translation: If someone from the home were to have paid for the vehicle I had been driving, and this car was in front of me, and this car then passed

Lunes

I’ll hope to be giving some more descriptive details tomorrow (after our adventure at the waterpark!), but things are going just so well! Thanks for all the prayers and support. Keep them coming! For now, enjoy some more pictures. Some highlights today include the kickoff of our week-long basketball clinic as well as a friendly competition of “Chubby Bunny.” (I definitely got beat by several 6-8 year olds….still recovering….)
