The Ace Store

So we got a good thing going here…

We wrapped up our basketball and after-school programming in December for the 2011 year, with the intention of taking six weeks off for Christmas break and the holiday craziness, as well as to give our volunteers some time to refresh and be rejuvinated–with the plans of launching the 2012 programming in early February.

The plan was executed perfectly. Just this past week, we launched both our Fast Break and Ace | After School programs. Preparing for re-launch translated into dozens upon dozens of calls to families as reminders that things we picking up again. (They were excited!)

WarmWeather & MoreVolunteers

Three weeks ago I was having a meeting with Jon Helle and Kristen Wolters. We were brainstorming about 2012, discussing what’s coming up, developments on several fronts—then creating a to-do list of action steps to make these things happen. The list included:

-Email Juarez trip veterans

-Send payment to Tix for Tots membership

-Create Shutterfly album books for Ace Supporters

-Pray for warm weather (or more space) and more volunteers for Ace | After School

For some reason it struck me as funny that one of the things on our To-Do list was a prayer re

Encouraging Updates

Encouraging news from Emmanuel. Keep the prayers coming!

Dear Friends –

Thank you so much for the prayers and encouragement. I do have some encouraging news to report.

It appears that the municipal police had a story of the events that is not going to hold up with the evidence. The federal police have been investigating all day and Sonia’s attorneys are telling us that she will likely be released later tonight or tomorrow.

This is so encouraging and I don’t know the details of what is next but we are SO thankful!!!

Sonia was able to go, under federal police escort, to the hospital to see

PRAYER NEEDED NOW!!!

This just in from our family and friends down in Juarez! Your prayers are needed! We serve a God that’s bigger!

Dear Friends –

We want to thank you for your continued prayers. Pastor Josue is doing pretty well. We have an URGENT NEED FOR PRAYER on another front so we ask you to join with us once more.

I will say at the outset that this is very complicated and people are likely to want more details but we are giving what we can as we can. The important thing right now is the need for prayer.

Yesterday early evening Sonia, the vice principal of Isaac Newton Academy, and her son, Josue, grandson to Josue an
