I could play the background.

It is impossible to explain how much it means to get to know these boys who are part of our Ace Hoops programming. Some I have known for over three years where others I am just beginning a relationship…either way I am already so blessed by each of them. It is incredible their energy, their enthusiasm, their uniqueness, their strength. I love them each so much. When I am with them, I wouldn’t choose to be anywhere else…often if you ever hear me talk about them, I refer to them as “my kids”…they have become family to me!

But because I love them so much, it continues to be so difficult to see the moments when their aggressi

This is our Story

I probably should have mentioned this earlier (maybe I did?!?). Better late than never….

On March 12th (16 days!!!!), we’re leading another team down to the Emmanuel Children’s Home in Juarez, Mexico. For you new followers, the Emmanuel Children’s Home is an amazing home and refuge for over 100+ kids. Although the city is corrupt (thus the nickname of “World’s Most Dangerous City”), the home is literally a light on a hill. A place of laughter and joy and smiles and innocence. I place I can call home. (Learn more at their website: www.emmanuelgo.org)

As the Spirit leads, please keep your trip in your prayers. Pra

Wake up call.

So, ask basically anyone who knows me well and they would agree that I am definitely NOT a morning person. It takes at least three loud, buzzing alarms to even get my attention in the morning…and even then it isn’t easy. And if you were to ask me to be grateful for being awake in the morning…I would have thought you were crazy.

But one morning after church, God used one of our 10 year old Ace Hoops boys, Deontre, to teach me something that I so desperately needed to learn. While sitting down together for a Wendy’s lunch, Deontre prayed this beautiful prayer…

“God thank you for waking me up this morning. Th

We need a van!?

My wife, Emily, was recently struck with some sort of flu-like virus. It wiped her out. Chills and body aches and headaches and a fever. It was pretty bad…

I then had a brilliant (or so I thought) idea: I should make some chicken wild rice soup. Good for the body, better for the soul…

Usually in the Anderson household, when we attempt to make things like soups or chili, we make big batches. We’ll stick some in the fridge and more in the freezer to pull out on a rainy (or snowy) or flu-like day. On to Cub Foods I went with a recipe in my hand, stocking up on 16-servings worth of chicken wild rice so

Disciples & Disciplers

My theory holds true. Previous post, Joe Mauer & More, quickly became the most viewed blog within a 48-hour timeframe. Looks like Joe will be finding his way into more and more titles!

Anyway…..I mentioned a few weeks back that I was ecstatic of the opportunity I had to hear author Francis Chan speak to a small group of leaders about inner city ministry. He did not disappoint!

He touched on a few things that I think all people need to hear, myself included. And while these may not be new, revolutionary, ideas within the Christian Church, I think they have nonetheless lost their grip with us Westerners.
